3. Terminology and Definitions

The terms and definitions established in GB/T2900.10-1984 and GB/T2900.23-1995, as well as the following, are applicable to this standard.

Water cooled cable: a water-cooled large section flexible current carrier used in industrial electric heating equipment. It is mainly composed of an outer sleeve, soft wire, core tube, differential spring, clamp, end joint, protective ring and other components selected and combined.

Outer sleeve: A synthetic rubber tube with a reinforced fabric layer that can withstand cooling water pressure and mechanical stress during operation.

Soft wire: Layered weaving or multi strand twisting of enameled wire with a diameter of 0.51mm.

Core tube: A water-cooled cable with a nominal cross-sectional area, which supports and positions soft wires and bears the tensile force of the water-cooled cable connection part and flexible tubular products or other structures.

Differential spring: A non-magnetic stainless steel component used to connect the core tube and end connector, which serves to smooth out and reduce the bending stress experienced by water-cooled cables during operation.

Clamp: A clamp made of non-magnetic stainless steel and copper material, with a locking device, used to secure the outer sleeve and/or protective ring.

End connector: electrode, commonly known as cable head, made of brass, purple copper or oxygen free copper according to user requirements, with surface passivation or tin plating treatment.

Protective ring: A synthetic rubber ring that is inserted into the outermost layer of the water-cooled cable to reduce external wear and buffer oscillation.

Thermal protection: Wrap high-temperature resistant asbestos tape around the outer thermal protection layer of the water-cooled cable.

Geometric average radius: The average radius of the soft conductor layer in the cross-section of a water-cooled cable.

Minimum curvature radius: The maximum allowable curvature radius for water-cooled cables when bent by external forces.

Coreless cable structure: a water-cooled cable structure that relies solely on the rotation of multiple conductors without the support and positioning of a core tube.

Bundle type: A water-cooled cable structure that uses multiple strands of flexible wires or multiple strands of flexible wires with spaced insulation, twisted at a certain spiral angle or wrapped in a single layer outside the core tube.

Concentric: A water-cooled cable structure in which multiple soft wires are wound in multiple layers at a certain spiral angle around a core tube.

Flame retardant type: a water-cooled cable structure with a thermal protection layer on the outer surface.
