Features of The Electric Arc Furnace Dust Removal System

The electric arc furnace dust removal system is a dust removal equipment installed on the smelting furnace for smoke exhaust, environmental protection and the reuse of dust. During the smelting process of electric arc furnaces and electric furnaces, due to the combustion of coke, preheating, melting and overheating of metal charges, movement of furnace gas, addition and descent of furnace charges, and damage of refractory materials, a large amount of harmful gases (such as SO2, CO, HF, etc.) and solid harmful substances are produced in the flue gas discharged from the electric arc furnaces and electric furnaces. These substances are not only harmful to humans but also pose a great threat to the natural environment.

Characteristics of the Electric Arc Furnace Dust Removal System

The EAF dust removal equipment is an environmental purification system designed for the high-temperature and high-concentration smoke and dust generated during the steelmaking process. Its core function is to capture the smoke and dust produced in different smelting stages (such as charging, oxygen blowing, and steel tapping) and ensure that the emissions meet standards.

I. System Composition & Working Principle

Capture Devices

The dust removal equipment adopts the EAF external exhaust smoke method, capturing the smoke and dust escaping from the electrode holes or furnace doors through roof exhaust hoods and overall enclosed hoods. The overall enclosed hood needs to be integrated with sound insulation, heat insulation, and explosion relief devices, while reserving process operation holes to ensure the normal progress of the smelting process.

Dust Removal Equipment

The mainstream is the bag filter, which filters the smoke and dust through high-temperature resistant filter bags (such as fiberglass membrane or polyester fiber), with a capture efficiency of ≥99.9%. The system is equipped with spark arrestors, explosion relief devices, and pre-coating technology to prevent explosion risks and extend the filter bag life.

Auxiliary Systems

Cooling System: The flue gas is cooled from 550°C to the filter bag's tolerance temperature (such as below 250°C) through water-cooled flues, spray cooling, or waste heat boilers.

Variable Frequency Control: The high-voltage variable frequency drive adjusts the fan speed, dynamically adjusting the air volume according to the smelting stage (50,000-80,000 m³/h during charging, 160,000 m³/h during oxygen blowing), balancing dust removal efficiency and energy consumption optimization.

II. Technical Features and Advantages

Multi-pollutant Synergistic Treatment: The EAF dust removal system integrates activated carbon adsorption, catalytic oxidation, and other technologies to simultaneously remove sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and volatile organic compounds.

Intelligent Control: Based on pressure difference, the pulse jet frequency is automatically adjusted, combined with waste heat recovery devices to reduce smelting energy consumption.

Safety Protection: The modular box design supports offline ash cleaning, equipped with temperature monitoring and emergency bypass (such as power frequency bypass) to ensure continuous system operation.
