An industrial furnace that generates heating through an electric arc using metal or non-metal electrodes is called a pressure ring. Electric arc furnaces can be classified into three-phase electric arc furnaces, consumable electrode electric arc furnaces, single-phase electric arc furnaces, and resistance electric arc furnaces. So, how else can pressure rings be classified according to other forms?
(1) Non-consumable electrode pressure ring: It uses tungsten or graphite as electrodes, and the electrodes themselves are not consumed or are consumed very little during the melting process.
(2) Consumable electrode electric arc furnace: It uses the metal being melted as the electrode, and the metal electrode is consumed as it melts.
(1) Constant arc voltage automatic control pressure ring: It relies on comparing the voltage between the two electrodes with a given voltage, and the difference is amplified to drive the consumable electrode to rise and fall, thus maintaining a constant arc length.
(2) Constant arc length automatic control electric arc furnace: It relies on the constant arc voltage to approximately control the constant arc length. (3) Automatic droplet pulse control pressure ring: This type of pressure ring automatically controls the constant arc length based on the relationship between the pulse frequency and duration generated during the formation and dripping of molten metal droplets and the arc length.
(1) Periodic operation pressure ring: Each furnace melts one cycle.
(2) Continuous operation electric arc furnace: This type of electric arc furnace has two forms. One is a rotating furnace; the other is where two furnaces share a single DC power supply, meaning that after one furnace finishes melting, the power supply is switched to the other furnace to immediately begin the next furnace melt.
(1) Fixed electric arc furnace.
(2) Rotary electric arc furnace.
The above is the classification of pressure rings. With the improvement of electric arc furnace equipment and smelting technology, as well as the development of the power industry, the cost of electric arc furnace steelmaking is decreasing. Electric arc furnace steelmaking is now used not only for producing alloy steel, but also extensively for producing ordinary carbon steel, and its output accounts for an increasingly larger proportion of the total steel output of major industrialized countries.
