An electrode electric arc furnace (EAF) is an industrial furnace that uses graphite electrodes to generate an arc between scrap metal and the electrodes, generating high temperatures to melt and refine the metal.
A 3-ton EAF is capable of flexibly melting a variety of alloy steels and recycling scrap metal. Its core advantage lies in utilizing the highly concentrated heat generated by the arc, easily controlling the furnace temperature, and efficiently removing impurities. Compared to traditional EAFs, the 3-ton electric arc furnace shortens the smelting cycle, reduces electricity consumption per ton of steel produced, reduces electrode consumption, and reduces CO2 emissions.
Conductivity & Arc Generation: Graphite electrodes are connected to an external power source, which conducts a high current into the furnace.
Arc Discharge: Current flows between the electrode tips and the scrap metal in the furnace, creating an arc discharge. This is a violent gas discharge process, generating ultra-high temperatures exceeding 3000°C.
Melting & Refining: The high-temperature arc melts the scrap metal in the melting furnace into a molten liquid. Operators can precisely control the furnace temperature and current flow by delivering electric current through electrodes to melt and refine metals.

Process Flexibility: The EAF can flexibly adjust temperature and composition, making it suitable for producing a variety of specialty alloy steels.

Clean Production: Compared to blast furnaces, electric arc furnaces operate more cleanly, reducing environmental pollution.
