Residual steel is poured into ingots, sorted by grade, and then sent to the stockyard, where it is then used as raw material in the furnace for steelmaking.
This series of steps wastes a significant amount of manpower and material resources, and the heat from the excess steel is wasted.
Even more regrettable is the way some steel mills handle their slag. Slag, hot at 1450-1500°C, is dumped into rivers and streams, not only blocking waterways but also causing harmful substances to seep into the soil and flow into rivers, causing pollution and harming humanity.
Slag is essential in steelmaking. If both excess steel and slag are fully and rationally utilized, not only can the waste heat be fully utilized, but a significant amount of auxiliary materials, such as lime and fluorite, can also be saved.
This also indirectly saves coal used for lime roasting and resources consumed for fluorite mining. Returning excess steel can preheat the cold material, increasing the furnace temperature and thus saving energy during smelting.
Through practical experience, the "waste heat return furnace" has been proven effective in reducing power consumption in many plants.
The generally accepted method for operating a return furnace is to inject molten steel into the "drilling" hole when the power is on 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through the well.
Safety must be maintained during return furnace operations to prevent slag splashing and potential personal injury and equipment accidents. Furthermore, dedicated personnel must oversee the lifting equipment used to ensure safety and reliability.
