Refining furnace water-cooled cable is a specialized cable designed for high-current transmission. It utilizes an internal water circulation cooling system to address heat generation issues under high-load conditions. It is primarily used in metallurgical equipment such as refining furnaces and electric arc furnaces.
Electrode (cable head): Refining furnace water-cooled cable utilizes high-purity oxygen-free copper conductors with a copper content exceeding 99.95%. This excellent conductivity effectively reduces power losses during transmission and ensures a stable power supply during operation.
Conductor: Multi-strand copper stranded wire or flexible conductor provides high current transmission capacity while maintaining flexibility to meet equipment connection requirements. The core structure of the refining furnace water-cooled cable is optimized, utilizing a multi-strand twisted structure. This structure makes the cable more flexible and easier to install and lay. Outer sheath: Made of high-pressure and high-temperature resistant rubber or special insulating materials, it must meet water pressure resistance (≥0.6-0.8MPa) and breakdown voltage (≥2300V-10kV) requirements. It offers excellent insulation performance, with insulation resistance exceeding 100MΩ, and can withstand voltages up to 10kV without breakdown, ensuring safe operation. The cable is wrapped in a high-strength, wear-resistant rubber sheath with a hardness of 70 Shore A. This provides excellent flexibility and abrasion resistance, effectively resisting external mechanical damage and extending the cable's service life.
Cooling system: A hollow water channel allows circulating water to quickly remove heat from the conductor, preventing overheating. The cooling water piping for water-cooled cables is a sophisticated design, utilizing seamless stainless steel pipes with a diameter of 25mm. Under rated operating conditions, the water flow rate can reach 15 cubic meters per minute, effectively dissipating heat generated by the cable and ensuring normal operation in high-temperature environments. The joints of the water-cooled cables for refining furnaces utilize an advanced crimping process. Using a specialized die, over 10 tons of pressure is applied to the joints, resulting in a contact resistance of less than 0.001Ω, significantly improving power transmission efficiency. The water cooling system of the water-cooled cables features an intelligent temperature control device that monitors the water temperature in real time. When the water temperature exceeds the set threshold of 60°C, it automatically increases the water flow rate to reduce the temperature and ensure effective cooling.
Cooling Mechanism: Current passing through the conductor generates significant heat. Internal water flows through dedicated channels to directly cool the conductor, maintaining the cable operating within a safe temperature range.
High-Current Transmission: The high-purity copper conductor and optimized cross-sectional design can carry thousands of amperes, making it suitable for high-power equipment such as refining furnaces.
Stability and Safety: The insulation layer and sealing structure prevent cooling water leakage while also resisting high voltage and electromagnetic interference, ensuring long-term stable operation of the equipment.
Metallurgical Industry: Primarily used in refining furnaces, electric arc furnaces, and ladle refining furnaces, it addresses high-current transmission and heat generation issues between the power supply and the induction coil. Other Industrial Fields: Suitable for high-temperature, high-load equipment such as ore-arc furnaces and resistance furnaces.
Energy Efficiency: Reduces power transmission losses and improves the power output efficiency of electric furnaces.

Corrosion Resistance: To adapt to the complex operating environment of refining furnaces, water-cooled cables possess excellent corrosion resistance. After 1000 hours of immersion testing in environments containing certain concentrations of acids, alkalis, and other chemicals, all performance indicators remained stable.
Fire and Moisture Resistant: The cable's internal filling is made of fire- and moisture-resistant mica. In the event of a fire, the mica can provide continuous insulation for over 30 minutes at temperatures of 1000°C, preventing the spread of fire.
Electromagnetic Compatibility: Refining furnace water-cooled cables utilize special shielding measures with a shielding effectiveness exceeding 80dB, effectively preventing external electromagnetic interference and ensuring the normal operation of the refining furnace control system.
Domestic water-cooled cables must meet stringent performance tests, such as insulation resistance, withstand voltage, and tensile strength tests.
In summary, the innovative design of "water cooling + high current transmission" for refining furnace water-cooled cables solves the overheating problem of traditional cables under high loads, making them key components for the efficient and safe operation of metallurgical equipment.
